Step 1: Create Your Account
First things first: you’ll need a NASA Space Apps account. Head over to the official website and sign up, or log in if you already have an account. This step is your gateway to all things Space Apps!
Step 2: Register for the Hackathon
Once your account is set up, it’s time to register for the 2025 challenge. Registration is open until October 5, so don’t miss your chance. Only registered participants are eligible for Global Judging, so make sure you complete this step.
Step 3: Pick a Local Event
Space Apps is all about community—connecting people across the globe. You can choose an in-person event near you, or join virtually if there isn’t one nearby. There’s even a Universal Event online for anyone, anywhere. Not sure which event suits you best? You can change your choice anytime before October 5.
Step 4: Build Your Team
Hackathons are team sports! You can form your own team or join an existing one based on your favourite challenge. Teams can have up to six members, and you’re free to switch things up until October 5. So reach out, collaborate, and find the right mix of talent.
Step 5: Submit Your Project
The real action starts on Saturday, October 4. That’s when teams begin working on their solutions. Project submissions open at 9:00 AM and close at 11:59 PM on Sunday, October 5—times are based on your chosen Local Event’s time zone. Make sure you submit your project before the deadline to receive a participant certificate and qualify for Global Judging.
